Puppy & Kitten

Training should begin at an early age (8-12 weeks).  Early training can help with important areas of learning, including establishing leadership, socializing, and preventing unruly behaviors.  We offer various printed materials and classes to help with training and taking care of your new pet.

Dog training can be fun and rewarding for both the pet and the owner.  We feel that dogs should go to at least one session of obedience classes to help the owner better understand how to properly train their pet.

Starter Puppy Obedience Class

Our instructor is Jerry, our own Veterinary Assistant, with over 20 years of behavior training experience.  He offers a class on Thursday nights from 7:00-8:00 p.m. by appointment only. Your first class is at no cost to you.  Additional classes can be scheduled with Jerry at your convenience at a fair rate per hour or you can register for an 8 week session of classes.  Please call (607) 734-5261 to set up your starter appointment today.

Basic Training

Dog training can be fun and rewarding for both the pet and the owner.  We feel that dogs should go to at least one session of obedience classes to help the owner better understand how to properly train their pet.  You will learn the basics of training your dog (sit, down, come, etc.).  We will also help you with individual behavior problems.  It is very important that you learn how to control your pet on command.  Best of all this helps develop a close relationship with your pet.

Repitition is the Key and Train with Humor

You will learn that after doing any commmand several times, the dog will begin to understand what you want.  Training with treats can also be helpful, but aren't always necessary.  We will teach you how to get them to do commands with or without treats.  When you are training, your dog will push your patience and try to win.  You have to remember to have a sense of humor and to always win.  You can tell when a dog is going to break fromt he command and it is very improtant to release them before they break.

More than Basic

We will teach you more than just the basics.  We also offer advanced obedience where the dogs will be challenged more.  Give us your ideas on what you want to learn at the end of each class.  There ia an opportunity for you to ask questions on how to train your dog for specific problems that you may have.
